Circulation

Executive Housekeeping Today (EHT) is a monthly publication of the International Executive Housekeepers Association, Inc. It has a circulation of approximately 3,500 decision makers responsible for housekeeping management (cleaning, waste management, purchasing, interior design, grounds maintenance, laundry/linen services, pest control, and management related areas such as regulatory compliance, training, and safety). Members/subscribers represent a variety of facilities from hospitality, health care, education, retail, government, and private industry. EHT is included in the Hospital Literature Index.

Publication Focus

EHT is one of the most comprehensive housekeeping journals in the world. It features articles about management, business trends, industry regulations, safety, people, and association news. We welcome contributions from all.

Some appropriate topics include:

  • Current trends and information in housekeeping, environmental services, and related industries.
  • Environmental, safety, and other regulations and laws.
  • Management, employee recognition, and training/development issues.
  • Personal growth and wellness programs.

Technical articles are reviewed by our Technical Advisory Committee.

Rights

EHT requires first world rights and reprint rights to all manuscripts, including rights to create electronic transmissions. Submission of a manuscript indicates acceptance of these terms unless otherwise noted. We do accept unsolicited manuscripts and use them as they are appropriate and as space allows.

Style

We use style guidelines from the Associated Press Stylebook. Please include full citations for end notes, footnotes, and bibliographies. We will conform these to our style.

Please avoid:

  • The first-person approach (e.g., "I did this," etc.)
  • Writing from a commercial, product-only perspective.  Articles should be information or knowledge oriented rather than product or service oriented.  We offer a section specifically for product and service descriptions that is separate from our editorial.

Please include examples and solutions if they are appropriate. Please try to limit submittals to 1,500-2,000 words. Although we do occasionally publish longer articles, it is much easier to schedule the shorter articles. We will edit according to space availability.

Please provide a contact name, company name, complete address, phone and fax numbers for us to publish at the end of the article. We also need this information in case we have questions prior to publication.

Electronic Submissions

If you choose to submit your manuscript electronically, please provide it in any common word processing software via e-mail to ldigiulio@ieha.org.

Photographs and Art

Provide camera-ready art for any graphics, illustrations or drawings. Photos may be either black and white or color and must be in crisp focus. Photography from printed materials (brochures or other publications) and Polaroid prints cannot be used. Electronic images are encouraged. Acceptable formats are jpeg and tiff. Please provide as CMYK as opposed to RGB when possible.

When sending art or photos, label them with a description suitable for a caption (if appropriate) and the name of your article, along with any directions we may need. Write on a label attached to the back of the art or photo. Protect art and photos with cardboard and/or protective sleeves when you mail them. Materials will not be returned unless a postage paid mailer is included by the sender.

Deadline

We begin preparing each issue approximately 6 weeks before it is printed. Therefore, articles must be received in approved form by the 15th of the month two months before the month of issue printed on the cover. For example, June 15 would be the deadline for the August issue.
