Education is the top priority at the International Executive Housekeepers Association, Inc. (I.E.H.A.).  Two special designations offered by I.E.H.A. provide recognition by your employer and peers when you reach education milestones.  They are R.E.H. (Registered Executive Housekeeper) and C.E.H. (Certified Executive Housekeeper), and each allows those who see your name to know you have reached milestones of achievement recognized by your professional peers.

In addition to R.E.H. and C.E.H., I.E.H.A. also offers continuing education for all members and nonmembers through its Self Study Program (which you can order online) and I.E.H.A.-sponsored seminars and workshops.

Designation as R.E.H. or C.E.H.

R.E.H., or Registered Executive Housekeeper

Registered Executive Housekeeper is the highest designation offered.  Members and nonmembers may attain it by completing a degree program with required courses designated by I.E.H.A.  This is called the collegiate program.

Registered Executive Housekeepers in good standing may use the letters, R.E.H., following their names.  R.E.H. status is renewed every three years by examination.

Requirements:

Complete a bachelor of arts or science degree from an accredited college or university.  It must include required courses in the collegiate program described in this brochure;

Submit an official copy of your college transcript showing completion of the required courses along with a copy of your resume; and

Submit a $25.00 transcript review fee ($50.00 non-member).

C.E.H., or Certified Executive Housekeeper

A person may attain Certified Executive Housekeeper status by fulfilling educational requirements through a certificate program, a self-study program, or college hours equal to an Associate degree.

Certified Executive Housekeepers in good standing may use the letters, C.E.H., after their names.  C.E.H. status is renewed every three years by examination.

Four Ways to Achieve Excellence and
Meet Certification Needs

There are four ways to attain the education needed for certification or certification renewalThese avenues are also available to nonmembers and members who want to update their practices or pursue professional excellence but who may not want to pursue certification at this time.

The four ways are:

The 330-hour Program

The Self Study Program

The Collegiate Program
Other miscellaneous programs attended

The 330-Hour Program

The 330-Hour Program consists of courses available at I.E.H.A.-approved colleges and universities.  Information on I.E.H.A.-approved schools may be obtained from the I.E.H.A. Association Office.

The Self-Study Program

The Self-Study Program consists of management and technical and administrative skills.

Of all the programs, this is the most convenient.  Each printed study module is designed to maximize learning at your own pace and when you have the time to study.  Each has review study questions and answers and an exam to complete and send to the I.E.H.A. Association Office for grading.  Participants should allow at least two weeks for processing test results.

Modules may be purchased by anyone interested in the subject areas.  They are particularly helpful in these ways:

As texts for I.E.H.A.-approved schools.

For members and nonmembers who want to be certified.

For members and nonmembers who want  to study a specific subject.

For group study classes in I.E.H.A. chapters.

Group discounts -- Group discounts are available only to I.E.H.A. members when they purchase either the Managing for Effect or Technical and Administrative Skills Series of the I.E.H.A. Training and Certification Program.  Additionally, to receive the discount all participants in the group must enroll in the program at the same time.  Groups may study and work together for review of the modules, but tests must be completed individually and not in a group setting.  Group pricing is as follows:

5-14 members...................$350 per series

Members wishing to enroll under group rates must complete the appropriate enrollment form and submit it to the Association Office for processing.

15 or more members..........$300 per series

Each series in the Self-Study Program comes in a three-ring binder that allows study flexibility.  Click here for enrollment form.

Complete and pass an I.E.H.A. subject exam in the area of study in which you wish to receive credit.

Renewing Your I.E.H.A. Designation

Renewing your I.E.H.A. designation is different from renewing your membership.  Membership renewal occurs once a year on your anniversary date of joining I.E.H.A.  Designation renewal occurs every three years from the date that you received your designation.  To retain your designation, you must fulfill the education requirements.

All Registered and Certified Executive Housekeepers will renew their C.E.H. or R.E.H. status every three (3) years and will be required to test within that 3-year timeframe.  All requirements must be met on their renewal date, but not more than six months prior to the renewal date.  The requirements for renewal are as follows:

Submit an application for the C.E.H. or R.E.H. renewal examination with the appropriate fee.

Complete the C.E.H. or R.E.H. renewal examination at an approved I.E.H.A. exam site or through an individually approved proctor.  A score of 70% or above is required for successful completion.

Process:

Ninety days prior to expiration, all C.E.H. and R.E.H. designation holders will receive notification of their upcoming renewal date.  Included with this notification will be an application for the C.E.H. or R.E.H. renewal examination and the opportunity to purchase a study guide or video.

Please advise if you are planning to take the test at an I.E.H.A. meeting site or within your facility.

Applicants will complete the application with the appropriate fee and return it to the Association Office for proper scheduling.

Applicants will receive notification of their confirmed examination site, date and time with information on review sessions and/or workbooks available to aid in preparation for the exam.

Applicants will take the examination at the designated site.  Proctors will return all examinations to the Association Office for grading and processing.

The Association Office will notify all applicants of their examination score with confirmation of their renewal.  Nonpassing scores will be notified with retesting information.
